Chaney Sweeps State Safe Truck Driving Rodeo
Waldorf, Maryland— Chaney Enterprises drivers,
Joe Edelen, Ray Rison, Charlie Hurley, and Leo
Curtis were recently presented with honors from
the Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA) in
conjunction with Maryland Aggregates Association
and Maryland Ready Mix Concrete Association, for
the 1996 Maryland Safe Truck Driving Championships
held at Maryland State Fair Grounds in Timonium,
Maryland.
MMTA strives to establish and maintain the highest
business principles and standards while confirming
adherence to environmental and safety standards.
These efforts are apparent in the drivers that
participate in this competition, as they are
the elite of Maryland's trucking companies. To
be eligible
for qualification, drivers had to achieve an
accident free record for one year, and must have
been nominated
by their respective company's Safety Supervisor
in order to be eligible to enter the competition.
Drivers competed in nine different classes, each
involving a Personal Interview, a Written Examination
(which included information on the trucking industry,
safety driving rules, first aid, and fire fighting),
a Pre-Trip Inspection, and a rigorous driving
course containing numerous challenges for each
driver
to overcome.
All first place winners of this competition (with
the exception of Dump and Concrete classes, as
they are state only) will go on to represent
Maryland in the American Trucking Association's
National
Safe Truck Driving Championships which will be
held in Columbus, Ohio August 21 - 24, 1996,
which happens to be National Truck Driver Appreciation
Week in the State of Maryland, as proclaimed
by
Governor Parris Glendening.
Chaney Enterprises, a family owned and operated
business, which was founded in 1962, is the leading
supplier of Concrete, Sand, Gravel, and Concrete
Block in Southern Maryland, like MMTA, strives
to establish and maintain the highest business
principles and standards while confirming adherence
to environmental and safety standards. Commensurate
with Chaney Enterprises commitment to be the
best in their business is one of their seven corporate
goals, which is their commitment to operate their
vehicles and facilities with Safety as the Primary
Consideration.
Chaney Enterprises strives to be a welcome neighbor
on the highways and in the communities. This
is evident in their commitment to adding quality
to
life in the communities in which they live and
work. Finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Dump
class, and 1st in the Concrete Mixer class of the
Maryland
Motor Truck Association 1996 Safe Truck Driving
Championships is evidence that Chaney's commitment
to safety is well directed and recognized.
