South Anne Arundel Lions Club and the Eugene Chaney
Foundation Team Up to Provide Site to Local Children
Annapolis, Maryland-The Eugene Chaney Foundation
recently presented a monetary donation to the Anne
Arundel Lions Club to purchase a Photoscreener
to provide early detection of “Amblyopia” or
lazy eye. Approximately 5% of the children in the
United States between the ages of 6 months to about
4 years suffer from Amblyopia. If this disease
is detected in the earlier years of a child’s
life it can be cured. The Lions Club will be using
the Photoscreener to take pictures of the eye to
send to medical professionals that are qualified
to read the results. The South Anne Arundel Lions
Club has been serving its community for over 53
years and is looking forward to serving there needs
in this capacity. The primary location of the machine
will be the Owensville Medical Center. The Lions
Club will also be providing the community the option
to have free screenings at the location of their
choice. To make arrangements for free screenings
at your location or for more information, please
either call Lion Jack Smith at (410) 867-3311 or
Lion John Sesso at (410) 735-5400.
