Chaney Enterprises Makes Donation to Fire House
Earlier this summer, Chaney Enterprises donated
fourteen yards of ready-mixed concrete to the
Marlboro Fire House for the construction of a
patio area adjacent to the building. Previously
a rough patch of dirt and gravel, this spot now
features several picnic tables and a grill for
the on-duty fire fighters to enjoy.
The Upper Marlboro Fire Station at 14815 Pratt
Street employs 15 firefighters on both a career
and a volunteer basis. The volunteers usually
work the weekend and night shifts, which go from
5pm to 7am, while the career firefighters typically
work during the day. The patio area is not only
a social point for all the firefighters as they
await a call to emergency action but it also
serves to boost team spirit and morale, a critical
point in any fire department.
Beyond the priority Chaney Enterprises places
on Outstanding People, Quality Products, and
Superior Service, the company works enthusiastically
to better the quality of life for local citizens.
A legacy of its founder, Babe Chaney, Chaney
Enterprises firmly believes that part of its
responsibility as a corporate citizen is to serve
its neighbors. The Chaney Foundation, the philanthropic
arm of Chaney Enterprises, orchestrates much
of the 6% of net annual profit the company gives
to non-profit and community organizations.
This latest fire house donation is Chaney Enterprises’ small
expression of gratitude to the men and women
who work daily for our public safety. “They
stand by 24 hours a day, seven days a week just
so that help is nearby if and when something
goes wrong for Chaney or for our neighbors. It
is a privilege for us to be able to make their
on-duty time a little more enjoyable,” says
Jessica Gallimore, Marketing Manager for Chaney
Enterprises.
Chaney Enterprises is a construction materials
supplier servicing all of Southern Maryland with
concrete, sand, gravel and stone, concrete block,
and construction materials and supplies. The
company operates seven ready mix concrete plants,
four sand and gravel facilities, and a 19,000-square-foot
contractor-grade construction materials supply
store throughout the State of Maryland.
On behalf of the entire Fire House, which is
run entirely by donation, Fire Chief Tim Clark
has expressed great appreciation to Chaney Enterprises.
