CHANEY ENTERPRISES: ALWAYS SAFETY CONSCIENCE
Chaney Enterprises is proud to announce that
it has received several prestigious safety awards
for 2003. The first recognition, the 2003 Platinum
S.T.E.P. award, was presented by the local Chesapeake
Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors
of Maryland. This award is achieved through the
facilitation of proper safety regulations and
compliance factors. It is a great honor to be
one of only four companies in the region recognized
at this high level of distinction. To qualify
for the Platinum level, a member company must
have received the STEP Gold award in 2002, and
exceeded all safety regulations put forth by
OSHA 300. With over 536,404 man hours, Chaney
met all of these regulations and actually surpassed
the minimum ranking components by 35 points.
As a Platinum award winner, Chaney Enterprises
safety statistics will automatically be eligible
for the ABC National Safety Award.
The second award presented by The National Ready
Mix Concrete Association recognizes Chaney Enterprises
for its “Excellence in Safety”. The
Association’s Safety Contest is a per-plant
contest open to all facilities operated by NRMCA
member companies in the United States. The program
offers recognition for safe workers and enables
the Association to compile industry-specific
accident frequency information. This data collected
is based on total number of cubic yards produced
by a plant, the number of lost-time accidents
at each plant, the number of mixer truck accidents
resulting in more than $5000 damage, and the
number of fatalities. It is a great honor to
be recognized by this association for exceeding
the industry standards in safety. The Bestgate
Facility succeeded at shipping over several thousand
cubic yards of concrete, without any fatalities
or major trucking accidents.
The phenomenal results of these safety records
are a reflection of the success of an innovative
safety initiative enacted by Chaney Enterprises,
Safety Director, John Santivasci, which was then
carried out by Chaney’s plant operators
and drivers. As a leader in the industry and
community, Chaney Enterprises recognizes the
great importance that safety plays in today’s
working environment for both the employees and
the public. This construction materials supplier,
who services all of Maryland with concrete, sand,
gravel and stone, concrete block, and construction
materials and supplies, has been locally owned
and operated for over 41 years. It operates seven
ready mix concrete plants, four sand and gravel
facilities, and a 19,000-square-foot contractor-grade
construction materials supply store throughout
the State of Maryland. |
