Chaney Enterprises is proud to have been recognized by associations and community organizations as being a community minded, safety-oriented, quality producer and supplier of construction materials.

Here is our list of association awards and community achievements for the last several years, so that you may share in our pride of helping make our industry and community better.
 
2007
Chaney Enterprises was recognized for its contributions to the Rowe Boulevard Bridge project in Annapolis by the National Partnership for Highway Quality (NPHQ). The NPHQ awarded its 2007 National Achievement Award Special Recognition for a Structure Project to the Maryland State Highway Administration and its District Five, Corman Construction, Inc., and KCI Technologies. Contracting with Corman Construction, Inc., Chaney Enterprises received recognition for its partnership with the firm. Thirty-six companies were involved in the SHA project, which was completed in 2006. Chaney Enterprises was a major supplier of concrete for the project.
Chaney Enterprises’ received the bronze award for the 2007 National Stone Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) Excellence in Community Relations Award. Criteria for the award consisted of community participation, outreach and special events; monetary donations and community service; local and state government involvement; communications and media relations; education: both of employees and community and facility appearance.
Loiderman Soltesz Associates, Inc. received the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association’s 2007 Environmental Award. The Gardiner Road Bridge, designed by Loiderman Soltesz Associates, Inc., was created as a haul road to transport sand and gravel to protect environmentally sensitive areas. Chaney Enterprises provided the concrete and construction materials for the construction of this project. The concern of building the bridge was the impact to the wetlands. A 42’ bridge span atop concrete abutments was installed to completely span the natural stream bed, thereby maintaining stream flow and allowing natural vegetation and wildlife grow. The high elevation of the bridge eliminates flooding and reduces roadway particles to be washed off into the stream. Permanent impact to the stream was reduced to 1,252 and 3,141 wetland buffer impact due to the creative design of the bridge. Designing of the bridge shows ingenuity and commitment to responsible resource stewardship while preserving the integrity of the Zekiah Swamp wetlands as well as an important natural greenway for the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
At the 60th Annual Maryland State Truck Driving Championships, Chaney Enterprises was well represented by Steve Waclawski CDP- Annapolis, Andy Wiseman CDP - Annapolis, George Montgomery CDP - Annapolis, Tommy Kendall ADP - Waldorf, Clyde Oglesby ADP- Waldorf and Chris Pikolycky ADP - Waldorf. Andy Wiseman placed first and George Montgomery placed second in the mixer class. In the dump competition, Clyde Oglesby took first place and Tommy Kendall walked away with third. In addition Wiseman was recognized with the annual Leo Curtis Award, given to the best driver in Maryland's concrete industry.
Chaney Enterprises wins the American Concrete Institute of Maryland Excellence in Construction Award. Chaney Enterprises is proud to have been recognized as the winner of the Specialty/Supplier for the Heavy Construction Category for our quality concrete, superior service and 13,843 yards of concrete that was provided to the construction of the MD 70 (Rowe Blvd) bridges over Weems Creek & College Creek located in Annapolis, MD.
Associated Builders and Contractors of the Metro presented Chaney with a Safety Award in 2007.
 
2006
Associated Builders and Contractors-Chesapeake Chapter's Excellence in Construction Award in the area of specialty supplier was given to Chaney Enterprises for the exceptional service they provided, which allowed Precision Concrete Construction to exceed its goal of completing construction of a tilt-up concrete strip mall in 6 months, by finishing the project within 120 days.
The American Concrete Institute of Maryland also presented Chaney Enterprises with the Outstanding Concrete Project of 2005 Award for the superior service Chaney Enterprises provided Precision Concrete Construction as they constructed a tilt-up strip mall in 120 days.

ABC Chapter Saftey Award
Once again CE was very well represented at the 2006 MMTA Truck Roadeo. Veteran Andy Wiseman placed 2nd amongst the best mixer drivers in the state and Chris Pikolycky of our dump division brought home a third place trophy.
 
2005
Chaney Enterprises received the "Toast Of The Town" Community Relations Award from the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association for the 25th Anniversary Bull Roast.
Two of our very own mixer and dump drivers placed at the 2005 Maryland Motor Truck Association Roadeo in Towson. Susan O'Steen took home 2nd place in the dump division and Andy Wiseman placed third in this years competition. We are very proud of all of our participants in this roadeo.
 
2004
It is with great pride that Chaney Enterprises announces that they have been selected as the recipient of the 2004 Maryland Department of the Environment Reclamation Award, as well as the 2004 Interstate Mining Compact Commission (IMCC) national reclamation award for the noncoal category. This prestigious honor was presented to Chaney Enterprises for compliance; contemporaneous reclamation; drainage control; bond release (or reclamation success); and innovativeness on their mining facility off Central Avenue in Davidsonville, MD, which they helped transition in to what is now known as Renditions Golf Course.
Chaney Enterprises is proud to announce that Francis H. Chaney, II, Chairman of the Board of Chaney Enterprises, was recently the recipient of the 2003 Aggman of The Year Award. The recipients of this award are selected based upon their personal contributions to the advancement of the aggregates industry. In the case of Frank Chaney, he has gone above and beyond the trade standards in all areas of consideration, especially his efforts to promote the advancement of education and community support in the aggregates industry.
The BoyScouts of America honored Francis H. Chaney, II, Chairman of the Board of Chaney Enterprises, as the recipient of the Good Scout Award. The BoyScouts honored Frank for being a true humanitarian, a community leader, and a friend to scouting.
 
2003
Charles County Chamber of Commerce, through a membership vote, presented Chaney Enterprises with the enviable name of, “Business of the Year.” Chaney Enterprises Nominated by Ellen Tassone of Fran’s Nu Image, Inc., Chaney Enterprises was recognized for their contribution to business and community development; service to the Charles County community outside the workplace, which includes community projects/activities and interaction with the community and charitable organizations; customer service to the citizens of Charles County; contributions to improve the quality of life in Charles County; public image within the community; environmentally sound business practices; and the extra effort given to the Charles County Chamber of Commerce. To top this, Chaney Enterprises is the first company to win McDonagh Award twice.
Three of Chaney Enterprises’ drivers, Wayne Sheranko, Dave Albrecht, and Andy Wiseman, won awards in the 2003 Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA) Safe Truck Driving State Championships. In the Mixer Truck division, Wayne Scheranko took first place and Andy Wiseman took third. In addition Sheranko was recognized with the fourth annual Leo Curtis Award, given to the best driver in Maryland’s concrete industry. In the Dump Truck division, Dave Albrecht took second place. Other Chaney Enterprises’ drivers with accident-free records for the past 12 months and who were nominated to participate in the competition included Richard Johnson, William Jones, and Danny George.
The Mineral Information Institute recognized Chaney Enterprises’ efforts to promote Natural Resource Literacy in America in their 2002-2003 National Education Sponsor Award. The award acknowledges the steps Chaney Enterprises has made toward creating a public awareness and understanding that our mineral resources are essential to society and produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.

The National Ready Mix Concrete Association recently presented Chaney Enterprises with an “Excellence in Safety” award. The Association’s Safety Contest is a per-plant contest open to all facilities operated by NRMCA member companies. This data collected is based on total number of cubic yards produced by a plant, the number of lost-time accidents at each plant, the number of mixer truck accidents resulting in more than $5000 damage, and the number of fatalities. It is a great honor to be recognized by this association for exceeding the industry standards in safety.
March of Dimes recognized Chaney Enterprises as their 2003 “ Top Veteran Team” for the volunteer participation and fundraising contributions of their employees and company as a whole.
Once again, Chaney Enterprises received honors at the Ducks Unlimited Charles County Annual Banquet, recognizing them for their participation in Corporations for Conservation, its land reclamation efforts, and its continued overall commitment to the land and community.
 
2002
The American Concrete Institute of Maryland presents Chaney Enterprises with the Outstanding Concrete Project of 2001 Award for the stamped and decorative concrete materials and supplies Chaney Enterprises supplied to the Chesapeake Beach, Maryland Veterans Memorial Park.
The Associated Builders and Contractors-Chesapeake Chapter presents Chaney Enterprises with the 2001 Excellence in Construction Award in the category of Specialty Landscape Category for the stamped and decorative concrete materials and supplies Chaney Enterprises supplied to the Chesapeake Beach, Maryland Veterans Memorial Park.
The National Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors presents Chaney Enterprises with a Gold Level Safety Award for Chaney Enterprises Safety and Training Evaluation Programs.
Chaney Enterprises mixer truck driver, Andy Wiseman, wins 2nd Place at the Maryland Motor Truck Association Safe Truck Driving Championships.
The Maryland Motor Truck Association awarded Chaney Enterprises dump truck driver, Dave Parker, Sr., with the Safe Driver of The Month Award for March 2002.
Chaney Enterprises mixer truck drivers, Thomas Hall and Danny George received the National Ready Mix Concrete Association’s Concrete Driver Professional Certification.
Chaney Enterprises Hollywood Plant received the Maryland State Highway Association’s Maryland Quality Initiative Concrete Plant Production Facility of the Year 2001 Award for its ability to productively and efficiently provide quality material to state highway projects in 2001.
Chaney Enterprises received honors at the Ducks Unlimited Charles County Annual Banquet, recognizing them for their participation in Corporations for Conservation, its land reclamation efforts, and its continued overall commitment to the land and community.
ARTBA recognizes Chaney Enterprises with an “Honorable Mention” for their participation in a Charles County based program called, Ground Hog Shadow Day. This program allows local students to shadow a Chaney employee for the day in their area of career interest.
 
2001
The Associated Builders and Contractors-Chesapeake Chapter awarded Chaney Enterprises with the 2000 Excellence in Construction Award in the category of Plant Manufacturing for the computerized upgrades made to Chaney Enterprises’ Waldorf Manufacturing Plant II.
Chaney Enterprises received an Honorable Mention for the 2000 PRIDE In Transportation Construction Award Competition for Chaney Enterprises participation in the 2000 Ground Hog Shadow Day.
The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association Certificate of Honor was presented to Chaney Enterprises Anne Arundel County Mining Facilities and Sand and Gravel Manufacturing Plants in recognition for working 50,032 working hours from 01/01/997 to 12/31/1999 without incurring a lost time injury.
The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association Certificate of Honor was presented to Chaney Enterprises Charles County Mining Facilities and Sand and Gravel Manufacturing Plants in recognition for working 53,136 working hours from 07/01/1998 to 06/30/1999 without incurring a lost time injury.
The National Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors presented Chaney Enterprises with the National 2000 Gold “STEP” Award for proper safety and training evaluation programs.
Chaney Enterprises dump truck driver wins 1st Place in the Dump Truck Class at the 2001 Maryland Motor Truck Association Safe Truck Driving Championships. In addition to his first place win, Hurley was also the recipient of the first annual Ralph “Leo” Curtis Memorial Award. The award was presented to Hurley for being the Top Overall Scorer at the championship.
 
2000
The American Concrete Institute of Maryland presents Chaney Enterprises with the Outstanding Concrete Project of 1999 Award in the category of residential for the Insulated Concrete Form materials and supplies Chaney Enterprises supplied to the Washington Square Homes Retirement Community.
The American Concrete Institute of Maryland presents Chaney Enterprises with the Outstanding Concrete Project of 1999 Award in the category of Misc. for the Stamped and Decorative Concrete materials and supplies Chaney Enterprises supplied to the theme park, Six Flags Over American in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
The Associated Builders and Contractors-Chesapeake Chapter awarded Chaney Enterprises with the 1999 Excellence in Construction Award in the category of Plant Manufacturing for the efficiency upgrades made to Chaney Enterprises’ Waldorf Manufacturing Plant II.
The National Aggregates Association awarded Chaney Enterprises with the 1999 Excellence in Community Education Award for Chaney Enterprises participation in the Career and Students Together Program.
The National Aggregates Association awarded Chaney Enterprises with the 1999 Pantheon Award in the category of Local Material for the exposed pea gravel concrete mix Chaney Enterprises supplied a local resident.
Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association’s Certificate of Honor chose Charles County Sand and Gravel Mining and Plant for working 107,462 man-hours without a fatal accident or permanent total disability for the period of July 1993 to Sept. 1998. Which was recognized by MSHA.
The National Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors presented Chaney Enterprises with the 1999 Platinum “STEP” Award for proper safety and training evaluation programs.
The National Ready Mix Concrete Association recognized Chaney Enterprises Hollywood and Calvert Concrete Facilities for an Accident Free Year in 1999.
Chaney Enterprises proudly acknowledges Luke Canter, Joe Edelen, Bill Jones, and Charlie Hurley for the professional presence they showed at the Maryland Motor Truck State Championship. These drivers received awards for perfect score on the pre-trip test, third place in the dump truck class, and first place in the dump/mixer truck class.
 
1999
Associated Builders and Contractors Chesapeake Chapters’ Excellence in Construction Award- This award recognized Chaney Enterprises upgrades on their Waldorf Plant II facility.
National Aggregates Associations’ Excellence in Community Education Award- Awarded to Chaney Enterprises annual tour they give to special education students to introduce them to the working environment (Charles County Based C.A.S.T. program).
National Aggregates Associations’ Pantheon Award for Local Material- This awarded was given to Chaney Enterprises for the quality material they supplied to construct a large exposed aggregate driveway.
Associated Builders and Contractors’ Platinum “Step” Safety Award- Awarded to Chaney Enterprises for outstanding safety ratings.
Valued employee of Chaney Enterprises, Pat Canfield, receives Charles County Chamber of Commerce Working Women Of The Year Award.
 
1998
Associated Builders and Contractors Chesapeake Chapters’ Excellence in Construction Award- This award recognized Chaney Enterprises’ Crofton Concrete Plant for its manufacturing capabilities.
American Concrete Institute Maryland Chapter Award for Commercial Construction- This award recognized Chaney Enterprises for supplying quality material to construct a Circuit City Distribution Center with Tilt-up construction. The award was presented for overall excellence in design, construction, and quality of finished product.
National Ready Mix Concrete Association Excellence in Safety Award- This award was given to four of Chaney Enterprises’ Ready Mix Concrete Plants for their excellent safety plan.
National Aggregates Associations’ Excellence in Community Service Award- Awarded for Chaney Enterprises’ employee support and participation of Bowl for Kids Sake, Christmas Connection, United Way Day of Caring, American Heart Association Walk-a-thon, and Davidsonville Day.
National Aggregates Associations’ Excellence in Community Education Award- Awarded to Chaney Enterprises for their partnership with the Charles County Community College in developing a commercial truck driver-training program.
